Odoo 20 introduces a wide range of improvements across artificial intelligence, accounting, logistics, marketing, Voice over IP, timesheets and everyday user experience. The release also brings an important change: the introduction of Light Users and updated pricing for the Custom Plan.
Here are the main changes companies should understand before adopting Odoo 20 or planning the migration of their current environment.
What is new in Odoo 20?
This version focuses on reducing manual work, improving access to information and creating smoother processes across the different departments of a company.
More assistance in daily operations
Odoo 20 expands the use of artificial intelligence to automate certain processes, retrieve information faster and support operational decisions.
Accounting improvements
New accounting capabilities aim to simplify financial operations, controls and access to the information required by finance teams.
Smoother logistics
Improvements across inventory, logistics and barcode operations help teams manage physical flows and day-to-day activities more efficiently.
Marketing, VoIP and timesheets
Odoo 20 also improves communication, marketing activities, time tracking and several workflows used by employees every day.
Odoo 20 is available, but an upgrade requires preparation
Odoo 20 is available for new databases on Odoo Online and Odoo.sh, as well as for download. According to Odoo’s announcement, the upgrade tools are being tested and the upgrade platform is expected by the end of November 2026, with test access planned earlier.
Odoo’s new pricing structure
Odoo announced new pricing applicable from 24 September 2026. The impact depends on the plan used and whether employees qualify for the new Light User category.
The free offer allowing the use of one application remains unchanged.
The Standard Plan remains unchanged.
Odoo announced a 20% increase for the Custom Plan.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Odoo 20 already available?
Yes. Odoo 20 is available for download and for new databases on Odoo Online and Odoo.sh. Existing databases should follow the appropriate upgrade process.
Should every company upgrade immediately?
No. The right timing depends on the version currently used, custom developments, integrations, the company’s operational calendar and its ability to test the new version.
What is the difference between a regular user and a Light User?
A regular user has access according to the company’s plan and assigned permissions. A Light User only uses a limited set of features related mainly to employees and operational activities.
Does the Custom Plan price increase affect existing users?
Odoo states that the new price applies to additional users who have not yet been ordered. Users already included in the contract follow the renewal conditions of the applicable agreement.
